Local Love: A Short Trip to a Longtime Community Favorite, Bayou Bakery-image

At Ballston Park , we love connecting our residents with the finest independent businesses in Arlington. For this installment of our Local Love series, we are spotlighting Bayou Bakery, Coffee Bar & Eatery , a staple of the Arlington food scene for well over a decade. Located just 2.2 miles away in Courthouse, this spot offers a warm, cozy escape filled with true Southern charm.   Bayou Bakery has built its legendary status on scratch-made pastries, Louisiana muffalettas, and hot, pillowy beignets piled high with powdered sugar. It is the ultimate casual spot to meet up with friends, work on a laptop, or unwind with an iced chicory coffee. Its long-term commitment to authentic recipes and a welcoming atmosphere has cemented it as a cornerstone of the Arlington community. Don’t forget about $5 New Orleans style Sno-Balls to help you beat the heat! Want a sneak peek of these mouthwatering dishes? Head over to Instagram to check out photos of their incredible food and give them a follow!     The restaurant’s enduring success is steered by New Orleans native Chef David Guas . Beyond his national recognition as a host and judge on various television food programs, Chef Guas is deeply admired for his philanthropic leadership. In response to local school closures, he co-founded Chefs Feeding Families , distributing more than 180,000 meals to families struggling with food security. His charitable outreach expands globally through his Community Spoon initiative, where he has provided freshly prepared meals to Afghan refugees arriving in Virginia, and volunteered on the front lines in Poland alongside World Central Kitchen to support Ukrainian refugees.   We take pride in being close to small businesses that do great work both inside the kitchen and out in the world. Next time you leave Ballston Park for a bite to eat, consider taking the quick trip down to Courthouse to show Bayou Bakery some love!
